“He let me sit next to him for over an hour” 🧺💕
While Brighid Rose was at her parents’ house the day before, she learned that another type of visitor had also been there and had settled in.
It was a small rodent that had been stealing food from their cabinets. Brighid’s parents hoped their cat would help them get rid of their son. However, Brighid took the more thoughtful course of action when he saw the mouse while she was there.
Brighid told The Dodo, “I picked him up and took him out to the field behind their house.”
But she didn’t stop there.
If the little rodent had been securely removed from the property, that would have been enough to merit appreciation. But Brighid decided to go one step further.
“I felt bad just leaving him there in the field, especially since he must have been used to eating all that human food in my parents’ cabinets,” said Brighid. “So I brought him a small picnic.”
Brighid laid out a picnic blanket made out of a napkin and spread out some snacks. It was loved by the rodent.
“It was really sweet,” described Brighid. “I was able to sit by him for more than an hour. I could tell he was really thrilled.

After a while, the little mouse found a cozy hiding place nearby. Before returning inside herself, Brighid left him some more food to help him get back on his feet outside the house.
Naturally, Brighid treated the mouse with deference and bid him go with a small lunch.
“I’ve always had a deep affection for animals. I didn’t give it a lot of thought. Like, I ought to help him! He’s a little mouse in a large world, and that’s not his fault,” she remarked. “It was adorable! It certainly brightened my day.
